1. Provide a definition of media literacy:
Is an expanded information and communication skill that is responsive to the changing nature of information in our society. It addresses the skills students need to be taught in school, the competencies citizens must have as we consume information in our homes and living rooms, and the abilities workers must have as we meet the challenges of a global economy. On this site, we have created lessons to begin the process of teaching and learning Media literacy skills. http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/21stcent/media.html
2. Provide examples of Persuasive Techniques we're studying:
This is an ad for DC Shoes. It is using the symbols techniques. This DC symbol is very recognizable because it is seen on all DC products. The symbol technique uses familiar symbols to attract people to the product.
This is a Got Milk? ad. It is using The Warm Fuzzies technique. The Warm Fuzzies Technique is the use of cute animals to attract people. I think this ad is also using the Humor technique because it is cats wanting milk.
This ad is using the Beautiful People Technique. The Beautiful People Technique uses beautiful people to get the veiweres to focus on this ad for Gucci. Gucci is a company that sells bags and apperall.
This ad is using the Testimonlial Technique. The Testimonial Technique uses familiar characters or actors. Stewie, from the TV show Family Guy, is in this ad. It is an ad for iPod.
