Diversion: Persuading by diverting attention

away from damning information or an alternative

point of view. The alcohol and tobacco industries

use this technique in all of their advertising.

 

 

 

 

This ad is using diversion because they are using a hula dancer to distract you from the fact that she is smoking camel cigarettes because hula dancers need to be healthy, and cigarettes can cause a lot of health problems.

 

 Marlboro  is using diversion by using a cowboy because cowboys need to be healthy and active to do their job and cigarettes make you unhealthy and sick and not active
