Flattery: Persuding by complimenting insincerely of excessively. Advertisers use this technique all the time example ("You deserve a break today"),  and television programs (including so-called "reality TV"). They use this technique in a more subtle way, suggesting that the audience is more smart, cool, etc. than the people on the screen.

Pantene has always tryed to make more people buy their product. The people that work for Pantene have "hair of the year 2007" as their way on trying to get you to by the product. A known fact that we heard from a hair dresser is that one thing in the product is floor wax. Have you ever seen a floor or felt how smooth the floor is after it has been waxed with this stuff? Well then look at your hair if you use this stuff it is smooth and shinny. That is why they are telling everyone that they all have the "hair of the year".

In this advertisment it is saying "Because you're worth IT." By saying this, with the picture of the diamond under it, We think when the people made this AD they made it so that the diamond would make it so that you would grab your attention, also we think that they have the AD saying "Because you're worth IT" with the diamond, so really that they can make a profit from having you buy the diamond.

In this advertisement American Rag is saying "Be. Your. Self." with five teenagers just hanging around. American Rag sells clothes. Under the photos of the five teenagers they have also put an IM or a text message from someone to another person talking about what they are doing or what is happening. The words aren't full words or they aren't in the dictionary because most kids use this type of talking when on IM. So we think American Rag is saying "Be. Your. Self." and not be anyone else.
